Church2Church Partnerships Available in the Valley
Over 40 churches in the Rio Grande Valley Baptist Association have indicated that they would like to engage in a Church2Church Partnership. Churches in the Valley need assistance with Evangelism, Sunday School, Children, Youth and Adult Ministries. They also need building repairs and upgrades along with financial resources. Maybe God is calling your church to a long-term sustainable ministry in the Rio Grande Valley area of Texas, being involved, building relationships, taking mission trips year after year. Haiti and Chile Missions Opportunities
Opportunities for Short Term Mission Teams and Church2Church Partnerships are available in Haiti and Chile. Through the generosity of churches and individuals who have given to Texas Baptists Disaster Response, grants are being offered for those who wish to do mission work or Church2Church partnerships in Haiti and Chile. $300 per individual, up to $3,000 per church. In order to receive these funds each church or individual will need to complete an application and attach copies of air travel itineraries. Download the application below.
Haiti
Currently we are partnering with the Haitian Baptist Convention of Churches in the Grand Goave area of Haiti. (About 4 hours from Port-au-Prince) Chaplain/counselor, construction and medical teams are needed most. Short Term Mission Trips go Saturday to Saturday. Dates are available into 2011. We are also putting information about groups that will be going to Haiti and working in the Grand Goave area. Robert Shehane has spent many recent days in Haiti. Chile
We are in contact with the Chilean Baptist Convention leadership (the Convención de Iglesias Bautistas de la Misión Chilena). Presently we know of 25 churches that were damaged or destroyed along with 9 pastors who have lost homes. Chili is a wonderful place for a church group to do construction and other types of missions. Dates, locations and lodging will be worked out with the Baptist Union of Chile. Spanish is the main language spoken in Chile.
The BGCT is offering grants to help with airfare to Haiti and Chile. The average cost to fly to Haiti is around $600 to $700 dollars, Chile is even higher. Contact Marla Bearden at 214-828-5382 if you are interested in finding out more about these opportunities.

In-Home Care Kits
Summer Mission Opportunity - The Texas Baptists Church2Church Partnerships Office has joined with Baptists Global Response to launch a Summer Missions Opportunity to collect "In-Home Care Kits" for terminally ill persons in South Africa. Much like the "Buckets of Hope"various health care supplies will be placed in a 5 gallon bucket. These supplies will provide a touch of physical and spiritual healing to the terminally ill people in Sub-Sahara Africa. [ More ]
Mission Opportunity to Egypt
Joni and Friends, a ministry outreach to people affected by disabilities founded by Joni Eareckson Tada, is seeking team members for a short term wheelchair missions outreach to Egypt October 27th – November 5th. Specific team member roles needing to be filled are Wheelchair Seating Specialists (PT’s/OT’s, DME reps, etc.) and Wheelchair mechanics (if you are mechanically inclined and like to do things like work on bicycles this would be a good fit).
