History
The Texas Baptist Historical Society was formed in 1938 after the
Executive Board had established the Texas Baptist Historical Collection in
1933. After a period of initial activity, the Society functioned only
intermittently for many years. In 1977, the Texas Baptist Historical
Committee, appointed by the Baptist General Convention of Texas and
operating under the Convention’s Executive Board, took action to
reorganize this Society with a revised constitution and a structure that
makes it an auxiliary to the Texas Baptist Historical Committee.
